Pope Boniface VIII

£1,500.00

            Pope Boniface VII, (1230 -13030) Head of the Catholic church from 1294 until his death, damned in Dante’s  “The Inferno” for simony, even though he was still alive when the poem was written. For those unfamiliar with the crime, Simony is defined as;

            The buying or selling of ecclesiastical privileges, for example pardons or benefices.

            Any connection between the portrait bearing a passing resemblance between the disgraced pontiff and Donald Trump, the recently reelected president of the United States is purely coincidental… and you’d be a fool and a communist to make one!
